Real estate purchase transactions increase 16.1% in January

 RIGA, Feb 14 - This past January, the number of real estate purchases in Latvia increased 16.1 percent from the corresponding month in 2011, whereas the number housing purchases grew 29.2 percent, according to an analysis of the Land Register's data by the real estate company "Latio".

The number of apartment purchases in Latvia grew 35.3 percent in January, whereas the number private house purchases increased 6.3 percent.

Compared to January 2012, the number of apartment purchases in Riga grew 45.5 percent in January 2013 and purchases of private houses increased 41.7 percent.
In comparison with December 2012, apartment purchase transactions in Riga rose 14 percent in January 2013, transactions involving private houses - 37.1 percent.

The number of apartment purchases in Riga is significantly larger than the number of private house purchases. 670 apartment transactions were registered in January 2013 in Riga, comprising almost 90 percent of all housing purchases in Riga.

Compared to January 2012, the number of housing transactions in the vicinity of Riga remained unchanged in January 2013. Compared to December 2012, housing transactions in the vicinity of Riga reduced 2 percent in January 2013.
