In January-October 2012, Liepaja Port serviced 1,670 ships. The number of passengers increased to 30,396 persons. This past October, Liepaja Port handled record-high 698,900 tons of cargo, 36.1 percent more in October 2011. In October, 54 percent of all cargoes handled at Liepaja Port were bulk cargoes. General cargoes constituted 41 percent. The share of liquid cargo turnover amounted to five percent of all cargoes handled at the port. leta.lv 11-12-2012
