Unemployment level in Latvia remained 6.4% in June

At the end of June, the level of registered unemployment in Latvia was 6.4% of the economically active population, which is the same as it was a month prior, as reported by State Employment Agency.

59,119 unemployed people were registered with SEA at the end of June 2018, which is 429 people fewer than a year prior.

The lowest unemployment level was registered in Riga region – 4.2%, which is 0.1 percentage points higher than a month prior. The highest unemployment level was registered in Latgale – 14.9%, which is 0.5 percentage points less than a month prior.

Unemployment levels in Zemgale and Vidzeme declined by 0.1 percentage points in June and were 5.9% and 6.5% respectively. Kurzeme’s registered unemployment level did not change and was 7.1% at the end of June.

SEA data also shows that Riga’s unemployment level was 4% in June as opposed to 3.9% in May.

In May 2018, Latvia’s unemployment level was 6.4% of economically active population.
