Ansis Zeltins/ldz.lv.
The committee responsible for the selection of candidates picked LDz Council Chairman Ansis Zeltins as the best candidate.

At the 28 June meeting, the board of the Freeport of Riga unanimously approved Zeltins in his new post.

BNN was told by the Freeport that Zeltins was proposed for approval by the committee, which had looked through 24 contenders over multiple stages of the selection process.

For Zeltins to start working in his new post, approval from Transport Minister Uldis Augulis is needed.

The company notes that in accordance with the Law on Ports, another meeting of the board of the Freeport of Riga will be organized as soon as approval from the minister is received. The final decision for approval of Zeltins in his new post will be made there.

BNN had previously reported that Loginovs handed the freeport’s chairman Andris Ameriks a letter in which he asked to be relieved of his duties starting 10 March 2017.

Following Loginovs’ departure, Aigars Pecaks was appointed as the acting CEO of the Freeport of Riga.

There were many attempts to remove him from his post over the course of the years – all of those attempts failed.

A criminal case was launched against Loginovs, accusing him of abusing official power, performing illegal donations and paying illegal thereby causing serious financial damage. Riga City Northern District Court found him and Aigars Pecaks not guilty at the beginning of January.
